SEPTA Joins 2030 District

October 27, 2017

The Delaware Valley Green Building Council announced the launch of the Philadelphia 2030 District. The 2030 district is a public/private partnership that combines the efforts of utilities and energy service companies, community organizations, and property owners to substantially reduce building energy use, water consumption, and transportation emissions by 2030.

Transit emits one third of the emissions in comparison to those of private vehicles, and the 2030 Commitment reinforces the critical role that public transportation will play to achieve the transportation emission goal of the 2030 District plan. Currently, 62% of all downtown office workers use public transit - Increasing ridership, supporting the transportation needs of a growing Philadelphia, and improving the efficiency of SEPTA's fleet will be essential for participating partners to reduce transportation emissions by 50% by 2030.

SEPTA is proud to be a participating property partner in the 2030 District, along with six other organizations throughout Philadelphia. As a participant, the Authority is provided with tools to improve its performance and opportunities to collaborate with other property partners to achieve 2030 District goals.
