Tip #19 - Rail Schedule Changes Effective May 11, 2008
|
Due to on-going track work, near 30th Street Station, new schedules will go into effect on
Sunday, May 11, 2008 for the Trenton/Chestnut Hill East (R7)
and Fox Chase/Chestnut Hill West (R8) Lines:

Trenton/Chestnut Hill East (R7)
|
- Owing to New Jersey Transit (NJT)/Amtrak schedule changes, Train #7701
will depart Suburban Station 2 minutes earlier at 4:21 a.m.
and Trains #726, #7766, and #7770 will depart Trenton
2-9 minutes later to maintain connections with NJT trains at Trenton
- Train #780 will depart Trenton 5 minutes later at 12:18 a.m.
The following highlights midday, weekday (10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) changes:
- Train #9730 will depart 10 minutes earlier between 30th St and Market East Stations
- Trains #9734 & #4734 will combine and become Train #734. Service will depart Trenton at 10:39 a.m. and operate up to 16 minutes earlier, arriving at Chestnut Hill East at 12:02 p.m.
- Trains #736 & #738 will operate 10 minutes earlier between 30th St and Chestnut Hill East
- Train #740 will operate up to 7 minutes earlier between 30th St and Chestnut Hill East
- Train #725 will operate 10 minutes later between North Philadelphia and Trenton
- Trains #731, #733, #735, #737, #7781, & #739 will operate up to 2 minutes earlier between Chestnut Hill East and 30th St and up to 8 minutes later between North Philadelphia and Trenton
- On Saturday and Sunday, all trains leaving Trenton (except #9740 and #9742) will be retimed 10 minutes later
to maintain connections with NJT trains

Fox Chase / Chestnut Hill West (R8)
|
The following highlights midday, weekday (10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) changes:
- Trains #4630, #826, #828, & #830 will depart up to 13 minutes earlier between 30th St and Fox Chase
- Trains #832, #834, & #838 will depart 10 minutes later between Chestnut Hill West and North Philadelphia Stations
- Trains #819, #823, #827, #829, & #831 will depart up to 13 minutes earlier between Fox Chase and North Philadelphia Stations
- Train #833 will depart 10 minutes later between North Philadelphia and Chestnut Hill West Stations

Wilmington/Newark (R2) Line
|
- With the schedule change, on Saturdays, service on Train #4217 departing Market East Station at 1:29 p.m. will be extended to Wilmington arriving at 2:21 p.m.; Train #4618 will also serve Wilmington departing at 2:36 p.m. and Marcus Hook at 2:48 for service to Center City and Elm Street in Norristown
Other Service Changes
- Beginning Monday, May 12, weekday service on Train #4630 (Norristown R6) will depart 10 minutes earlier for service between 30th St and Elm St, Norristown. All other train times, as shown in the March 23, 2008 schedule remain in effect
- Train #4734 on the Paoli/Thorndale (R5) Line will become Train #9550. All train times will remain as shown in the March 23 timetable
