Tip #16 - New Regional Rail Schedules

New schedules go into effect on Sunday, December 2, 2007 for all Regional Rail lines.

The timetable changes are designed to address train overcrowding and improve operational efficiency through adjustments in the number of cars in service; retiming trains to reduce operational conflicts through Center City; and establishing new Express train service from Glenside, Jenkintown, and on the Norristown Line.

Riders will also notice train number changes (important for using Train View) and an increase in the number of “cross-routed” trains -- with service starting on one branch and ending on another.  All cross-routed service, identified by numbers starting with 4XXX, will make stops at all Center City stations.

In addition, hourly mid-day weekday service on the Paoli/Thorndale and Lansdale/Doylestown lines will continue due to on-going Amtrak infrastructure and SEPTA overhead wire replacement work.

Please go to www.septa.org for a preview of the new rail schedules and to check for service changes on your train line.
