You may be surprised to learn just how many weekly and monthly
transit passes are turned into our Lost & Found Department,
and even more people call or come in to report a lost or stolen
pass. Although the notice on the back of your pass states that
SEPTA is not responsible for lost or stolen passes, we do try to
find the rightful owner and follow up on all loss claims reported.
Some passes are inadvertently left in the seat clip, fall out
of a pocket or purse, or just seem to disappear. Fortunately
there
are honest people who will turn a pass into the Lost & Found.
Unfortunately there are some unscrupulous individuals who take
what is not theirs.
We have a few simple suggestions to help protect your valued
transit investment, enable you to follow your Conductor’s request
to have passes displayed for the length of the trip, and still
be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
- Sign the back of your pass, as soon as you
purchase it and include your name and phone number. This
helps us reunite you
with your
pass, should it be turned into the Lost & Found.
- Keep your
pass secure and visible. The best way to comply with our
request that passes be displayed while you’re on the
train is to put it in a plastic pass protector and attach
it to a lanyard that can be worn around your neck or a clip
holder
that
can be attached to a jacket lapel or sweater. This way,
your Conductor can see the pass and you can be comfortable
that
your investment
remains safely in your possession.
To help remind all SEPTA customers
to protect their travel investment, we’re launching an information
campaign in September that includes the Protect
Your Investment: Keep Track of Your Pass message
on transit passes. And to make it easier for you to display your
pass, we’re also offering a free pass holder and clip when
you buy a September pass at one of the Center City Stations. Supplies
are limited, so we recommend that you purchase your pass early.
For more details about fares please go to www.septa.org or https://shop.SEPTA.org to buy passes on-line.
We hope these few steps will help keep your
pass safe, but if you lose it or any item while riding Regional
Rail please call 215-580-5740
or stop into the Passenger Services Office at Suburban Station
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. |
