SEPTA To Expand Market-Frankford Line Weekday Morning and Afternoon Service Monday

Schedules to Change for Other SEPTA City and Suburban Transit Routes This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA, PA  -- Schedules will change on Sunday, February 10, for a number of SEPTA City Transit and Frontier Division bus routes. On Monday, February 11, Victory Division bus route schedule changes will take effect.

The changes include improved weekday Market-Frankford Line service effective Monday morning (February 11). Beginning at 6:45 a.m., SEPTA will expand Market-Frankford Line peak hour service frequency from 69th Street Terminal and Frankford Transportation Center (FTC). From 69th Street Terminal peak hour service will now operate until 9 a.m. while peak hour service from FTC has been extended until 9:30 a.m. with trains operating every four minutes.In addition, SEPTA will enhance midday service with trains leaving every six minutes instead of every eight minutes.

This represents a 12% increase in Market-Frankford Line service throughout the day.

Also, Route 23 bus service remains on detour due to extensive PennDOT construction on Germantown Ave. between Mount Airy Avenue and Willow Grove Avenue. The detour will continue to use Mount Airy, Stenton, and Willow Grove Avenues in both directions with most Route 23 weekday trips from South Philadelphia terminating at Germantown District. Shuttle bus service, is scheduled to operate between Germantown District and Bethlehem Loop in Chestnut Hill from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, providing service every 15 to 20 minutes during morning and afternoon peak hours (6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.), with service every 30 minutes during off-peak hours. Weekdays between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., and on weekends, Route 23 service will operate through to Chestnut Hill following the detour routing.

New timetables are available now at SEPTA sales offices, on vehicles and at SEPTA transportation districts. The schedules are also available on the SEPTA website at www.septa.org. For additional information riders should contact SEPTA Customer Service at (215) 580-7800.

Significant changes on SEPTA City Transit Division bus routes to begin February 10 include:

·Route 22 – the weekday 7:30 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. trips from Olney Transportation Center will now leave at 7:35 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. instead.

·Route 24 – on weekdays, a new late night trip will leave 2nd Street Pike & Knowles Avenue (Southampton) at 9:14 p.m. A Saturday trip to Southampton has also been added leaving Frankford Transportation Center at 7 a.m.

·Route 25 – weekday and weekend late night trips will now terminate at Pier 70.

·Route 52 – weekday trips between 54th Street & City Avenue and 49th Street & Woodland Avenue will no longer make stops along Conshohocken Avenue.

·Route G – new weekday and weekend service to Columbus Commons Shopping Center will alternate with Food Distribution Center trips between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. In addition, some morning peak hour trips have been revised to operate to 63rd Street & Malvern Loop instead of Overbrook Station.

Changes to Suburban Transit Frontier District service beginning February 10 will include:

·Route 93 – additional weekday and weekend service has been added from Norristown to Collegeville. The schedule has also been revised to improve on-time performance.

·Route 95 – additional weekday peak hour service has been scheduled to and from Plymouth Meeting Mall operating every 20 minutes. (Feb. 11)

·Route 96 – new weekday trips have been added at 9:35 a.m. from Norristown Transportation Center and at 1:46 p.m. & 2:46 p.m. from Montgomery County Community College to reduce overcrowding. Also, the 11:15 p.m. trip from Lansdale will now leave at 11:10 p.m. to improve connections with Route 100 service.

·Route 99 – on weekdays and weekends schedule adjustments have been made due to the closing of the DeKalb Street Bridge.

·Route 124 – on weekdays, additional afternoon peak hour service is now scheduled to reduce overcrowded conditions. In addition, four new trips will operate on Sundays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. between Gulph Mills and King of Prussia. The Saturday 4:40 a.m. trip has been discontinued due to low ridership.

·Route 127 – new weekday and Saturday service will operate between Neshaminy Mall and Trenton. Experimental service to Philadelphia Park Casino has been discontinued due to low ridership. (Feb. 11)

Changes to Suburban Transit Victory District service February 11 will include:

·Route 101 – new weekday Springfield Express service will depart 69th Street Terminal at 5:30 p.m. with enhanced weekday peak hour service to Scenic Road Station due to changing ridership patterns. Weekend service has been adjusted to provide improved connections with Route 102 at Drexel Hill Junction.

·Route 102 – new 15-minute weekday service to Sharon Hill between 3:50 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. will be added to the current schedule along with enhanced afternoon peak hour service. Aldan Station (short-turn) trips have been discontinued during the afternoon peak hours due to changing ridership patterns. Service has been adjusted to better coincide with Route 101 at Drexel Hill Junction.

·Route 104 – a new 7:40 p.m. weeknight trip to Newtown Square Corporate Campus has been scheduled. Evening departures from 69th Street Terminal have been adjusted after 6:30 p.m.

·Route 105 – on weeknights, the final trip from Paoli Hospital will leave at 7:40 p.m. instead of 7:25 p.m.

·Route 112 – weekday express service will now make stops at West Chester Pike & Eagle Road. Also, the former 11:20 a.m. trip has been enhanced and will now depart 69th Street Terminal at 11:10 a.m. and has been extended to Delaware County Community College.

·Route 113 – weekdays, the 5:30 a.m. trip from Chester Transportation Center en route to 69th Street Terminal has been extended to begin at Marcus Hook at 5:24 a.m. The 12:25 a.m. trip from 69th Street Terminal will now leave at 12:50 a.m. en route to Marcus Hook. A new return trip will leave Marcus Hook at 2 a.m.

·Route 119 – select weeknight trips and all weekend trips have been extended to serve Cheyney University and Concordville Town Centre.

·Route 120 – a new weekday trip will depart Cheyney University at 5:15 p.m. en route to 69th Street Terminal.

·Route 123 – the 6:55 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. trips have been eliminated from the weekday schedule and all A.M. trips will no longer serve Gulph Mills Station due to low ridership.

·Route 125 – on weekdays, additional service will operate from Gulph Mills en route to PFPC to reduce overcrowding. On Saturdays, two new trips are scheduled to leave 13th & Market Streets at 4:40 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. A new trip will leave PFPC at 5:45 a.m.

Riders will also notice additional schedule changes to bus Routes 94, 134 and 304.
