SEPTA To Hold Public Meeting On FY 2009 Capital Budget

PHILADELPHIA, PA  – SEPTA is initiating the development of its Fiscal Year 2009 Capital Budget and Fiscal Years 2009-2020 Capital Program. As part of the development process a public meeting is scheduled to be held in Philadelphia on Friday, December 14, 2007.

Major capital initiatives under consideration for funding include the Market Street Elevated Reconstruction Program; acquisition of regional rail cars, buses and paratransit vehicles; station accessibility improvements; regional rail power substation improvements; R5 Paoli Line improvements; R3 rail service extension to Wawa, Delaware County; and a new fare collection system.

The public meeting will held at 11 a.m. at SEPTA Headquarters, 1234 Market Street, SEPTA Board Room, mezzanine level.

The purpose of the public meeting is to receive input regarding SEPTA’s current capital program and future capital needs. Citizen groups, public agencies, elected officials and interested individuals are invited to attend and offer public comments which will be considered during the preparation of the proposed capital budget. Formal Public Hearings for the FY 2009 Capital Budget and FY 2009-2020 Capital Program will be held in April 2008.
