SEPTA Broad Street "Sports Express" Service Is Set For A Busy Weekend At Sports Complex

Thousands of Fans Expected for Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, Phantoms, Kixx, and Temple Games

November 14, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PA  – SEPTA Broad Street line service speed, comfort, and convenience is the best route to the action this weekend as team spirit will descend upon the South Philadelphia Sports Complex area en mass as multiple events will challenge motorists.

On Sunday (November 18), the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field for a 1 p.m. game as they turn the corner towards the second half of the season. The teams have not met in Philadelphia since Ty Detmer quarterbacked the team and Ricky Watters lead the rushing attack 11 years ago to victory at Veteran’s Stadium.

Since then, thousands have discovered that on game day the Broad Street line is the most efficient, comfortable, and time saving way to get to events at the sports complex to the tune of nearly a 100% increase in fan ridership for Eagles games over the past eight seasons.

Special SEPTA Broad Street Line Sports Express trains will leave Fern Rock Transportation Center every 10 minutes between 10:10 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. stopping only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station and the South Philadelphia sports complex.

After the game, local and express trains will be standing by to provide northbound service back to Fern Rock.

In addition, Eagles fans driving into Center City can park at any one of five city-owned parking lots for only $5.00. There they can purchase a two-pack of SEPTA tokens ($2.90) and take the short walk to the Broad Street Line City Hall Station where they will be able to board scheduled southbound trains to the stadium.

The parking lots include:

·AutoPark - JFK Plaza Garage - 15th & Arch Streets

·AutoPark - Center City Lot - 15th & Arch Streets

·Gateway Garage - 15th & Vine Streets

·AutoPark - Gallery Mall - 10th & Filbert Streets

·AutoPark - Jefferson - 10th & Ludlow Streets

Convenient Broad Street line service will also be standing by on Friday (November 16), for fans en route to the Sixers and Phantoms games at 7 p.m. and on Saturday (November 17), for the final Temple football home game of the season at Lincoln Financial Field at 12 p.m. Later that evening, local Broad Street Line service is set to take fans to the sports complex as the Flyers battle the New Jersey Devils at the Wachovia Center, while the Kixx meet the Monterey La Raza at the Spectrum for 7 p.m. games.
