PHILADELPHIA, PA — SEPTA City and Suburban Transit Divisions bus, trolley and subway-elevated routes as well as Regional Rail lines will operate on Sunday schedules on Christmas Eve (Sunday, December 24). On Christmas Day (Monday, December 25), all SEPTA services will operate on Sunday or special schedules.
CHRISTMAS EVE (Sunday, December 24)
On Christmas Eve, most SEPTA services will operate on regular Sunday schedules.
CHRISTMAS DAY (Monday, December 25)
On Christmas Day, SEPTA bus, trolley and subway-elevated routes will operate on a Sunday schedule with the exceptions of City Transit Division bus Routes 14, 20, 24, 28, 58, and 70 and Suburban Transit Division bus Routes 93, 94, 96, 97, 98, 99, 124/125, 130 and 305, which will operate on special Christmas Day schedules. In addition, LUCY bus service in University City and Suburban Transit Division bus Routes 90, 92, 95, 103, 106, 107, 111, 112, 115, 116, 118, 121, 127, 128, 129, 131, 132, 201, 204, 206, 304, 310, and 314 will not operate.
SEPTA Regional Rail service will operate on a special holiday (reduced Sunday) schedule with rail lines providing service about every two hours with the exceptions of the R1 Airport line which will operate every half hour, R7 Trenton which will provide hourly service, and R3 Media-Elwyn and R8 Fox Chase which will run about every three hours.
Regional rail lines will provide service on the following schedules:
- R1 Airport – service will operate every half-hour throughout the day between Center City Philadelphia and Philadelphia International Airport.Most trains will provide service between Center City Philadelphia and Glenside on a regular Sunday schedule.
- R2 Warminster – will operate from Suburban Station to Warminster Station from 8:05 a.m. until 12:05 a.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Warminster is scheduled from 7:12 a.m. until 10:42 p.m.
- R2 Marcus Hook – will provide service from Suburban Station to Marcus Hook Station from 8:34 a.m. until 8:34 p.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service is scheduled from Marcus Hook from 9:47 a.m. until 9:37 p.m.
- R3 West Trenton – will operate from Suburban Station to West Trenton Station from 8:35 a.m. until 11:05 p.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service will operate from West Trenton from 7:58 a.m. until 9:58 p.m.
- R3 Media/Elwyn – will operate from Suburban Station to Media and Elwyn Stations from 10:22 a.m. until 12:22 a.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service will operate from Elwyn from 8:22 a.m. until 11:22 p.m.
- R5 Lansdale/Doylestown – will run from Suburban Station to Doylestown Station from 7:20 a.m. until 11:20 p.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service will operate from Doylestown from 7:29 a.m. until 10:59 p.m.
- R5 Paoli/Malvern – will provide service from Suburban Station to Malvern Station from 8:45 a.m. until 12:15 a.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Malvern is scheduled from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.
- R6 Norristown – will operate from Suburban Station to Elm Street Station in Norristown from 8:25 a.m. until 10:15 p.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Elm Street Station is scheduled from 7:50 a.m. until 9:41 p.m.
- R7 Chestnut Hill East – will operate from Suburban Station to Chestnut Hill East Station from 7:38 a.m. until 11:38 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Chestnut Hill East is scheduled from 6:32 a.m. until 10:32 p.m.
- R7 Trenton – arrival and departure times have been structured to coordinate with New Jersey Transit train service and will operate on a regular hourly Sunday schedule.Outbound (to Trenton) service will operate from Suburban Station to Trenton Station from 6:05 a.m. until 11:05 p.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Trenton Station is scheduled from 6:46 a.m. until 11:47 p.m.
- R8 Fox Chase – will operate from Suburban Station to Fox Chase Station from 8:57 a.m. until 8:57 p.m.Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Fox Chase is scheduled from 9:51 a.m. until 9:51 p.m.
- R8 Chestnut Hill West – will run from Suburban Station to Chestnut Hill West Station from 6:50 a.m. until 10:50 p.m. Inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) service from Chestnut Hill West is scheduled from 7:45 a.m. until 11:45 p.m.
Riders can also call the SEPTA Customer Service Department at (215) 580-7800 for schedule information. The Customer Service Department will maintain regular hours with "live" information agents on duty from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, throughout the holiday season with the exception of Christmas Day when it will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The STAR pre-recorded information system provides callers with schedule information 24 hours a day.
