SEPTA To Offer Frequent Service To Eagles Football Game, Philadelphia Marathon On Sunday

PHILADELPHIA, PA — On Sunday, November 19, SEPTA will provide frequent and convenient service for football fans traveling to the Eagles-Tennessee Titans game at Lincoln Financial Field or the 48th Annual Philadelphia Marathon set to start at the foot of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

For the football game, scheduled to start at 1 p.m., special SEPTA Broad Street Line “Sports Express” service will leave Fern Rock Transportation Center every ten minutes from 10:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

From Fern Rock to Pattison Station and the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, Broad Street Line Sports Express trains make limited stops serving the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route. The Express trip from City Hall to the Sports Complex takes only about eight minutes. In addition, local trains will also be in service about every 12 minutes throughout the day. Local trains take about 15 minutes to travel between City Hall and Pattison Stations.

This football season the SEPTA Broad Street Line service is carrying an average of about 8,000 fans to each Eagles home game.

In addition, for Eagles fans driving into Center City, discounted $5.00 parking is available at any one of five city-owned parking lots. At the parking lots fans can purchase a two-pack of SEPTA tokens for $2.60 and make the short walk to the Broad Street Line City Hall Station and board a scheduled southbound train to the stadium.

The parking lots include:

  • AutoPark – JFK Plaza Garage – 15th & Arch Streets
  • AutoPark – Center City Lot – 15th & Arch Streets
  • Gateway Garage – 15th & Vine Streets
  • AutoPark – Gallery Mall – 10th & Filbert Streets
  • AutoPark – Jefferson – 10th & Ludlow Streets

SEPTA will also open the lower level platform at Pattison Station before and after the game allowing for easier travel into and out of the station. After the game, fans will find trains standing by to provide local and express service back to Fern Rock.

To get an up-close and personal view of the Philadelphia Marathon, scheduled to run from the Museum of Art through Fairmount Park and Center City from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., fans can use SEPTA regional rail service to Suburban Station or Broad Street Line service to City Hall Station and take the short walk to the Marathon Grandstand on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Racing fans will find that many of the area streets in Center City will be closed to automobile traffic and the race will also cause SEPTA to operate bus Routes 2, 9, 21, 25, 27, 32, 33, 40, 42, 43, 44, 48, 57, 61, 64, 65, 124/125, C and R on local detours. More than 10,000 spectators are expected for the event.
