R5 Lansdale-Doylestown Schedule Modifications are Effective Oct. 30

October 25, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Midday train service on SEPTA’s R5 Lansdale/Doylestown Regional Rail line will operate hourly between Doylestown and Glenside Stations for approximately nine weeks beginning Monday, October 30 to accommodate a construction project. Normal service will be operated between Glenside and Center City Philadelphia.

During the project, R5 Lansdale-Doylestown train service will operate on a single-track between Gwynedd Valley and Glenside Stations to allow the installation of new inbound and outbound canopies at Fort Washington Station. The project will primarily impact off-peak weekday service from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

In addition to midday adjustments, some early morning inbound and outbound R5 Lansdale-Doylestown trains will be retimed to accommodate increased ridership at several stations and to separate train movements at Lansdale.

Passengers should obtain new R5 Lansdale-Doylestown schedules to be available at all Center City stations or online. In addition, SEPTA representatives will be on-site at affected stations along the R5 line to distribute information prior to the changes. Passengers will also find posters at stations and informational leaflets on trains notifying them of the upcoming changes.
