SEPTA to Operate Weekend R8 Fox Chase Shuttle Buses

PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA will operate shuttle buses on a portion of the R8 Fox Chase Line this weekend, Saturday & Sunday, September 16 & 17, due to a railroad construction project.

The shuttle buses will replace train service between Fox Chase and Lawndale Stations while SEPTA replaces the overhead catenary pole system along the line.

Special R8 Fox Chase weekend timetables will be in affect and available at Center City Stations. The timetables, which include shuttle bus stop locations, are also online. Passengers are advised to plan accordingly as the shuttle buses may add up to 20 minutes to each trip.

Saturday, September 16
For inbound service (to Philadelphia),buses will leave Fox Chase 29 minutes after the hour between 6:29 a.m. and 8:29 p.m. with the last bus departing Fox Chase at 9:19 p.m. The shuttle buses will make stops at Ryers, Cheltenham, and Lawndale before connecting with trains at Olney. Normal train service between Lawndale and Center City Philadelphia will continue to operate as shown in the Aug. 6, 2006 timetable.

For outbound service (to Fox Chase), passengers will board regularly scheduled trains from Center City Philadelphia. Riders traveling beyond Lawndale, however, will transfer to shuttle buses at Olney to continue to Fox Chase.

Sunday, September 17
For inbound service (to Philadelphia), buses will leave Fox Chase every 90 minutes from 7:33 a.m. until 9:03 p.m. and make stops at Ryers, Cheltenham, and Lawndale before connecting with trains at Olney. Normal train service between Lawndale and Center City Philadelphia will continue to operate as shown in the Aug. 6, 2006 timetable.

For outbound service (to Fox Chase), passengers will board regularly scheduled trains from Center City Philadelphia. Riders traveling beyond Lawndale, however, will transfer to shuttle buses at Olney to continue to Fox Chase.
