SEPTA Adding Extra R6 Norristown Service for Manayunk Bike Race

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Thanks to SEPTA R6 Norristown train service bicycling enthusiasts can now quickly get to the famed “Manayunk Wall” without breaking a sweat.

SEPTA will operate enhanced Sunday service on Regional Rail Route R6 Norristown for spectators traveling to the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship in Manayunk on June 11.

The enhanced R6 Norristown service will operate every half-hour instead of hourly from 7:48 a.m. until 4:48 p.m. between Elm Street in Norristown and 30th Street Station in Center City offering fans improved access to the competition.

R6 Norristown riders can travel from Center City Philadelphia to the “Wall” in Manayunk in about 15 minutes while a trip to Manayunk from the Norristown Transportation Center takes about 17 minutes aboard SEPTA trains.

For the convenience of passengers, SEPTA ticket offices at the Norristown Transportation Center and East Falls Station will be open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Also, there are close to 1,500 parking spaces in SEPTA lots along the R6 Norristown line.All SEPTA parking lots offer free parking on weekends.

SEPTA carried about 6,000 additional spectators to the race last year on its R6 Norristown Line compared to typical Sunday ridership.
