SEPTA to Operate Regular Market-Frankford Line & Regional Rail Service this Weekend

Construction Outages Postponed During Memorial Day Weekend

May 24, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTA will operate regular Market-Frankford Line and regional rail train service this weekend (Friday-Sunday, May 26-28) to accommodate passengers traveling during the Memorial Day weekend.

SEPTA has been using weekend shuttle bus service on a portion of the Market-Frankford Line and select regional rail routes since mid-April due to separate construction projects.

The hiatus will allow continuous train travel between 69th Street Terminal and the Frankford Transportation Center for Market-Frankford Line passengers.

Regional rail passengers on R1 Airport, R2 Warminster, R3 West Trenton, and R5 Lansdale Doylestown will also have uninterrupted train service all weekend.

As part of the extensive Market Street Elevated Reconstruction Project, SEPTA is rebuilding the western portion of the Market-Frankford Line between 46th & Market Streets in West Philadelphia and Millbourne in Delaware County.

SEPTA is also in the final phase of construction for the Wayne Junction to Glenside track & signal project. The project is installing new communication and signal systems to improve rail service for 34,000 daily SEPTA passengers who travel between Wayne Junction and Glenside Stations.

Information on all SEPTA service is available online or by calling (215) 580-7800.
