PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The thousands of bus and El riders that travel through the SEPTA Frankford Transportation Center (FTC) every day can now purchase breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, flowers and newspapers all within the comfortable confines of SEPTA's modern transit center.
Following the opening of FTC in August of 2003 the surrounding neighborhood has seen positive changes with the opening of new stores on Frankford Avenue and Bridge Street. The new stores in FTC adding some spice to the neighborhood mix of stores and restaurants include the Station Café Restaurant, the Gourmet Station Restaurant, two Metro Convenience Stores, two Metro news stands, the Soft Pretzel Factory, and a Flowers to Go Store.
The eight new stores join the popular and expansive Dunkin' Donuts store located on the mezzanine level of the station.
The opening of eight new stores at FTC are a part of SEPTA's vision to create and develop the facility to serve the needs of the Frankford community as well as those of SEPTA's transit riders.
In addition, construction on the FTC facility continues with a 1,000 space parking garage located on Bustleton Avenue north of Bridge Street and the historic Bridge Street Terminal headhouse entrance to FTC scheduled to open later this year. |
