Regular Market-Frankford Line Service to Operate During Three Weekends in May
May 3, 2007
PHILADELPHIA, PA — SEPTA will operate regular Market-Frankford Line train service this weekend (May 5-6) allowing continuous travel for riders commuting between 69th Street Terminal and the Frankford Transportation Center.
SEPTA will also offer Market Frankford Line riders regular train service next weekend (May 12 & 13 — Mother’s Day weekend) and May 26 & 27 (Memorial Day weekend).
Weekend shuttle buses, however, will return to service and replace train operations between 69th Street Terminal and 40th Street Station during the weekend of May 18-21 as work continues on the Market Street Elevated (MSE) reconstruction project.
MSE is rebuilding the western portion of the Market-Frankford Line between 46th & Market Streets in West Philadelphia and Millbourne in Delaware County. It includes the reconstruction of 46th Street, 52nd Street, 56th Street, 60th Street and 63rd Street Stations in West Philadelphia and Millbourne Station in Delaware County.
The construction project will also replace 11,000 feet of the guideway between Millbourne Station and 46th Street with a new single column bent structure which will open up Market Street and significantly improve the flow of traffic.
