SEPTA Express To The Rescue
“Trifecta” Of Events At Sports Complex To Cause Traffic Nightmare
April 25, 2006 PHILADELPHIA, PA – The SEPTA Broad Street Line is set for the action at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex on Wednesday evening as more than 50,000 sports fans and circus enthusiasts are expected to visit the area as the Flyers take to the ice in an important playoff game against the Buffalo Sabers, the Phillies battle the Colorado Rockies, and the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus entertains "kids of all ages".
To accommodate the expected crowds SEPTA will provide convenient express and local Broad Street Line service for everyone that wants to avoid the expected traffic jams and reach the Sports Complex on time and in comfort. Broad Street Line trains operate directly to the Sports Complex.
As the Flyers game at the Wachovia Center and the Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park are both scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. and the circus has a show set for 7 p.m., SEPTA will operate special Broad Street Line Sports Express trains that will leave the Fern Rock Transportation Center at 6:15 p.m. and 6:25 p.m.Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station at the South Philadelphia sports complex. The express trip from City Hall to Pattison Station takes only about eight minutes.In addition, local trains in service throughout the day take only 11 minutes to travel to the Sports Complex from City Hall.
After the events local and express trains will be standing by to provide northbound service back to Fern Rock.
