SEPTA Broad Street Line Takes You to the 'Diamond', the 'Ring', and the Starting 'Line' this Weekend SEPTA will provide special service to the sports action this weekend with ease and convenience avoiding the expected traffic congestion and everyone is a winner! On Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, three extra Broad Street Line express trains will operate each day from Fern Rock Transportation Center at 6:08 p.m., 6:18 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. for scheduled 7:05 p.m. Phillies/Marlins baseball games at Citizens Bank Park. Extra local trains will also be in service. On Sunday April 29, the Philadelphia Phillies will wrap up their three-game home-stand with the Marlins with a 1:35 p.m. game. Three Sports Express trains will operate from Fern Rock Transportation Center every 10 minutes beginning at 12:28 p.m. en route to Pattison Station and the Sports Complex with regular local and express trains in service throughout the day. Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race‑Vine, City Hall and Walnut‑Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station in South Philadelphia. The express trip from City Hall takes only about eight minutes. Local trains take only 11 minutes to travel to the Sports Complex from City Hall. After the events, local and express trains will be standing by to provide northbound service to Fern Rock. Also, the 113th annual Penn Relays track and field competition at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, and 7 a.m. on Saturday. Passengers can travel via SEPTA on the El to 34th Street Station, bus Routes 21, 30, 40, 42 or subway-surface Routes 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36. Passengers can also take regional rail Routes R1, R2 and R3 to University City Station which is just a few steps from the starting line. Due to continuing construction on the R5 Lansdale/Doylestown line, shuttle buses will operate between Doylestown and North Wales, however extra shuttle buses will be on standby throughout the day on Saturday, though, SEPTA strongly recommends that R5 passengers travel to Ambler, Fort Washington or North Wales stations for train service due to extensive parking at these facilities. Parking is free at SEPTA stations on weekends. In addition, convenient Broad Street Line local and express service will be operating for children of all ages heading to the Spectrum to see the Ringling Brothers/Barnum Bailey Circus on Friday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. or Sunday’s show at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. For additional information about SEPTA service call (215) 580-7800. |
