Schedules Change for Select SEPTA Regional Rail Routes

April 12, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA - A select number of SEPTA regional rail routes will operate with new schedules on Sunday, April 16 and Monday, April 17. In most cases the changes to the schedules will be minor.

New timetables for the impacted routes are available now at Market-East, Suburban and 30th Street Stations and SEPTA sales offices. Passengers can also view the timetables online. Information for all SEPTA service is available by telephone at (215) 580-7800.

The new schedules will affect service on regional rail Routes R1 Airport, R3 Media-Elwyn, R3 West Trenton, and R5 Lansdale-Doylestown.

Schedule changes will include:

Effective Sunday, April 16
• R1 Airport – with the addition of a new early morning round trip, service has been increased to operate every 30 minutes to and from Philadelphia International Airport, 19 hours a day, seven days a week.

Effective Monday, April 17
R3 West Trenton/Media/Elwyn – on weekdays train times during midday have been revised for service to and from West Trenton and Elwyn due to an ongoing maintenance project.

R5 Lansdale/Doylestown – on weekdays during midday, shuttle buses will operate in place of train service between Lansdale and Doylestown Stations due to a maintenance project.

The shuttle buses will make stops at or near Del Val College, New Britain, Chalfont, Link Belt, Colmar, and Fortuna Stations en route.

For inbound service (to Philadelphia), shuttle buses will depart Doylestown Station up to 12 minutes earlier than current train times. The shuttle buses will make stops at intermediate stations en route before connecting with trains at Lansdale. (Buses will stop on Route 202 & Iron Hill Road for Del Val College passengers, Route 202 & Tamenend Avenue for New Britain Station passengers, and on Cowpath Road for Fortuna Station passengers.)

For outbound service (to Lansdale and Doylestown), passengers will board regularly scheduled trains from Center City Philadelphia. Riders traveling beyond Lansdale to Doylestown, however, will transfer to shuttle buses at Lansdale.

Passengers should plan accordingly as the shuttle buses may add up to 20 minutes to each trip. The project is scheduled to continue until August.
