Phillies Baseball Season Starts With SEPTA Broad Street Line Service

March 28, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Phillies fans have high hopes for the 2007 baseball season and SEPTA Broad Street Line service will be along for every stretch of the ride.

Broad Street Line service will be in play for every home game as Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and the rest of the Philadelphia Phillies make their drive for a championship season. Broad Street Line “Sports Express” train service will be added to the regular schedule when Phillies games approach sell-outs or major crowds are expected in the South Philadelphia Stadium Complex area.

For the home opener scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. on Monday, April 2, against the Atlanta Braves, Broad Street Line “Sports Express” trains will operate from Fern Rock Transportation Center at 10:53 a.m., 11:03 a.m., 12:03 p.m. and 12:14 p.m. Local Broad Street Line trains operating about every eight to 12 minutes will also be in service throughout the day. In addition, SEPTA will festively decorate Pattison Station to welcome in the new season.

SEPTA will operate Broad Street Line Sports Express trains again on Wednesday, April 4, and Thursday, April 5, for the scheduled Phillies-Braves games. For the 7:05 p.m. game on April 4, Broad Street Line Sports Express trains will leave Fern Rock at 6:08 p.m., 6:18 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. For the 3:05 p.m. game on April 5, Sports Express trains will leave Fern Rock at 12:53 p.m., 1:03 p.m., 2:03 p.m., and 2:14 p.m.

Broad Street Line Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Avenue Station and Citizens Bank Park. The express trip from City Hall to the stadium takes only about eight minutes.

After the games fans will find northbound express and local trains standing by to provide frequent service back to Fern Rock.
