Trevose Station Parking Expansion

Part of the Trevose Station Parking Expansion includes
a new retaining wall and customer shelter on the platform.

Today, customers at our West Trenton (R3) Line Trevose Station may have some trouble finding a parking space on weekday mornings because the current 95-space parking lot is at 100% capacity.  As rail ridership has continued to grow, available parking just cannot meet the demand.  In response to this customer amenity issue, SEPTA acquired a piece of undeveloped land one block from the station, and since March 2007, construction crews have been transforming the grounds into 125 additional parking spaces.  Scheduled to be completed in January 2008, this project – approximately $3 million in awarded construction contracts – will increase the total number of available parking spaces at Trevose Station to 219.

SEPTA also plans to introduce a modern parking payment system as part of this project.  Customers will find four new, modern payment machines that will accept bills and coins for quicker transactions.  The system will be ready to accept electronic payments in the future.

The project includes functional ADA improvements
to the parking and platform areas.

In addition to the parking, the platform area is also receiving cosmetic and functional ADA improvements along with new lighting and signage.  New landscaping will be planted to create a more visually appealing waiting area.  The stormwater system combined with decorative retaining walls will improve drainage around the station area.  A new shelter is being constructed to help shield SEPTA riders from the elements.

The importance of Trevose Station as a transportation node extends beyond SEPTA’s train service; it is also a stop for the Bucks County RUSH bus route.  This service, operated by the Bucks County TMA, provides a vital link from this Regional Rail station to business parks, schools and shopping throughout Bucks County.

Enhancing customer travel amenities at SEPTA Regional Rail stations is an important aspect of the Authority’s mission to attract and retain riders and adding parking spaces and rehabilitating stations are just some of the initiatives planned to meet this objective.
