Been to or driven past Norristown Transportation Center (NTC) recently?  Then you’ve seen the buzz of SEPTA construction activity at the corner of Dekalb and Lafayette Streets on a new parking facility.  With its opening expected in Spring 2008, this four story, 522 car structure will increase parking capacity by almost 40% making it even easier for customers to use SEPTA public transit as part of their daily commute.

NTC is the second high rise parking structure being built by SEPTA.  This, fully ADA accessible, structure will have clean, modern lines with stainless steel facades on the north and west sides along with glass-enclosed stair towers and will feature a similar type of self-serve payment system, in use at the Frankford Transportation Center Garage.  Offering ease of parking entrance and exit, riders will be able to pay by the day or purchase reloadable payment cards for frequent visits at a lower cost per use.  At street level, the garage space will be leased to a private motor coach operator and will feature an enclosed waiting area.  Additional landscaping and a permanent art installation will create an enhanced community presence for NTC.

SEPTA service from the Norristown Transportation Center includes Bus Routes 90, 91, 93, 96, 97, 98, 99, and 131; the Route 100 Norristown High Speed Line; and the Norristown (R6) Regional Rail Line, along with a Customer Service Office.  These routes make it possible to access employment opportunities, schools, and shopping in Montgomery County. The Norristown Transportation Center parking facility project is part of a comprehensive capital investment program to building and enhance customer amenities at SEPTA Regional Rail and Transit facilities through out the region.  Artist rendering of the completed Norristown Transportation Center parking facility from along Lafayette Street.
