It Is Better To Give And To Receive

SEPTA's Marketing Department recently received a Bronze award from the League of American Communications Professionals for its 2009 Annual Report "Sparking Progress." The 2009 Vision Awards Annual Report Competition scored "Sparking Progress" a 92 out of a possible 100 points in its Transportation & Logistics Category.

The report, which contains all the required financial and statistical data, also features colorful photos and descriptive text highlighting SEPTA's outstanding service and community commitment.

This competition received one of the largest numbers of submissions ever, representing a broad range of industries. More than 4,000 entries representing upwards of 25 countries were submitted, so competition was exceptionally tough.

The League of American Communications Professionals LLC facilitates best-in-class practices within the public relations profession by recognizing companies demonstrating exemplary communications capabilities. Its annual report competition included hundreds of entries from some of the most recognized organizations in the world, including Adidas Group, Pfizer, Bayer AG, Bank of China Limited, and Hyundai Engineering and Construction.

The Sales Department recently kicked-off their Commuter's Choice campaign with a series of events around the city promoting the program's benefits for all SEPTA commuters. SEPTA employees handed out Commuter's Choice program brochures and riders received giveaways and refreshments.

The events, which were held around town in front of various Center City businesses, including the Comcast Center, The Shops at Liberty Place, Reading Terminal Market, and in University City, promoted the perks of participating in the Commuter's Choice program. The events were a hit among commuters, who entered a raffle for tickets to a Phillies game. Fourteen of the 25 raffle winners picked up their Phillies tickets during an event with SEPTA officials in front of a specially wrapped Commuter's Choice Hybrid bus parked outside SEPTA's headquarters.

SEPTA's Commuter's Choice offers four programs for employers who want to provide transit discounts for their workers. The programs include ComPass, TransitChek, WageWorks and WiredCommute. Employers can help their staffers get to work on SEPTA stress-free, with more money in their pockets. Federal Tax Code 132F now allows for employees to receive double the savings as a tax-free benefit.

SEPTA Senior Sales Development Specialist Jennifer Scimone, manages the Authority's discount transit programs. "The programs have many perks that commuters and employees can benefit from." said Scimone. "These programs are a win-win because employees save money and employers are adding a valuable benefit as well as saving FICA taxes. Providing our riders with knowledge about these programs is important for the region as a whole."
